I borrowed my friend's Canonet QL17. Put a roll of Efke 25 through it, mainly because I had only one roll of it, have never used it before and was apprehensive about putting that slow of a film in my Leica. The camera had no battery, but everything else seemed in working order and the roll turned out ok.

Surprised this one was in focus.

rgy01854

Burned the rest of the roll at home.

Two spiders.

rgy01871

Crazy flare.

rgy01872

Oh hey, clouds.

Now Tri-x. Project for an art class, had to create an album cover. Also featured is the canonet and an article about Sonic Youth with Thurston making a face (including hands with eyes) quite similar to that of the pale man from Pan's Labyrinth.

For the same art class we had to create a sign and put it up somewhere on campus.

We got puppies. (more to come later)

But first, I went to the griffith observatory because I hadn't been since it reopened.

Not very interesting, unfortunately:

I thought I missed him. A second later he was off the floor.

Ok, more puppies.

He hops when he runs.

They both enjoy laying down at our feet.

Oh, I also got a gecko. Mom's co-worker couldn't take care of it anymore and I said I would. He's cool.

I watched Grizzly Man. After seeing Encounters at the End of the World I wanted to see more by Mr. Herzog and this one seemed like a good choice. Turns out it was, a very well done documentary on a fascinating person.

Joys of living in southern california?

My grandmother in the house she raised her children in. I underexposed it because I'm stupid.

Must be something to revisit the house you grew up in, or raised your children in..

I thought taking another photography class would help further and advance my photography, but it seems like it's stunted it instead.

The majority of what I've shot this year, thus far, has been extremely personal. Or, in other words, probably wouldn't hold much meaning for anyone but me and a small select group of people.

rgy01715

Maybe when I'm dead all these unposted photos, the ones I don't share, will be uncovered and viewed. Or maybe they'll be lost forever and no one will ever see them. Who knows.

rgy01739

For an art class called 2D design. My sundays are usually spent working on the next project, which, although the semester is almost halfway over, always includes cutting and pasting. Just like in kindergarten.

rgy01740

Trying out a double exposure for the second time. This time I managed to rewind the film the correct amount so that the frames overlap correctly BUT I completely forgot that there was no way I was going to be able to line the camera back up where it was for the first shot. Next time I'll have to remind myself to use a tripod. Or something. Or not do double exposures. Think that might be the better path.

rgy01758

I went to Venice (Beach, wish I meant Italy, though) and found this street performer who stands in glass. He called the lady on the left Japan.

rgy01760

The expressions of the people watching make this for me.

rgy01765

People sleeping, during the day, outside, near the ocean. I feel like I should feel bad for what is probably a homeless person, but I'm not. Instead, I'm jealous. Would it not be nice to be free of the majority of our worries?

rgy01766

There were statues of dogs along this house. And then this dog. And my shadow somehow found its way into the frame as well.

rgy01769

rgy01772

I'll avoid any phallic joke about trees growing out of places.

rgy01773

I think there's something wrong with my Leica, not sure what's going on on the far right of the frame here, and I've seen the same on several other frames.

Merry Christmas

My sister's friend's room. She asked me to take pictures of it.

She has blue hair, doesn't quite come through on b&w. :p

In their backyard.

They also have goats. One waddles when it walks.

Previously, her Mom's studio, but it's empty now.

Printed this one on RC paper, thinking of doing it again on fiber.

Later, at school.

Full moon. Looks a little eery when there's clouds around.

Note: my amazing composition (street light coming out of her head).

I guess I had a small thing for shooting the moon. This was also at school.

Back at school: happy birthday slut face.

More from Thanksgiving.

Very affectionate dog.

And... another self.

Trying to blow a conch shell. It's harder than you might think.

Back at home.

Cheap sushi place (note what's at the top of the menu).

Wasted the last shot.

I had a roll of film I started at EI 2500, which I decided to finish. Streets of LA,

He moved quite a bit for being a living statue.

I saw Amanda Palmer at the Henry Fonda Music Box. The Builders and the Butchers opened. They were pretty good. Not sure I liked the singer, though.

They passed out maracas and this single drum for one of the songs.

That's Neil Gaiman, over on the left, reading about Amanda Palmer's "death."

She wasn't really dead, however.

This is the amazingly beautiful Zoe Keating.

Ms. Palmer wailing her heart out.

Lookin' serious.

Was a little surprised she played Coin Operated Boy.

And even more surprised she played Half Jack. The buildup before the song was awesome. I think I enjoyed it more with the violin and cello than I do with drums.

Not sure many other cellists play hard enough to strip the hair from their bows. I tried to get a shot of some of the hair dangling as they were playing but I was too slow. Zoe yanked it off before I got a chance.

Umbrella. Ella. Ella. Ella... (song is definitely annoying)

But made for wonderful photos.

Can't decide between the two above, both have their little charm.

This is not Katy Perry.

And Amanda Palmer did not, or has not to my knowledge, kissed her.

Off came the clothes.

And on went the dresses. Out came the couple?

And up came the sign! Fuck Prop 8, indeed, fuck it right in the ass.

Ms. Amanda Palmer herself, at the merch table.

Snow on our mountains, a rare occasion.

Ate at a Japanese place that serves Shabu Shabu. There are pans of boiling water on every table/seat. They serve raw meat, vegetables, noodles and you cook it all yourself. The slices are thin so it only takes a few moments to cook fully (if that's how you like it, or just a quick dip if you want it still red).

Needless to say, it was delicious.

Handed the camera over.

Thought this would have come out better, but oh well.

Louis Vuitton bags! Er, I mean, another self.

Beach. (Hermosa)

Lovely flare.

Delicious coffee (this is my uncle).

I didn't realize the roll I had in my camera was 24 exp so it was quite a surprise when I couldn't advance any further. I rewound it a little, thinking it got stuck, advanced with my hand over the lens to around 32. and took a last one. They just ended up overlapped. And I couldn't advance again.

I very much like this last one regardless of the mess up.

Thanks for viewing.
